My company headquarters in Weimar: from an emergency solution to a strategic decision:
In 2022, I needed an affordable office in Thuringia and found a coworking space in Weimar. What started out as pure expediency developed quite differently over time:
I develop digital solutions for trauma institutions, web design for doctors and therapists who deal with trauma and realise how perfectly Weimar suits this work.
Why here?
Weimar is a symbol of one of the most difficult eras in the history of democracy, a symbol of a more than complex past. It is fair to say that the Weimar Republic laid the foundations for one of the greatest traumas in the world: the Second World War.
As a web designer for trauma doctors and therapists, I experience every day that healing needs the right spaces – both digital and real. My international business is web-based, but the symbolic power of this place inspires my work every day.
And today?
Today, Weimar and Thuringia are back in the spotlight: the 2024 election was the first German state election in which a party categorised by a state office for the protection of the constitution as definitely right-wing extremist – the AfD Thuringia – received the most votes.
The question is: Is this election an interim stage in which we resolve the old traumas, or is this election the first step towards a dark future – the end of liberal democracy in Germany?
